“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope.” – Helen Keller
Please allow me a moment to share with you about an upcoming event with which you can make a substantial and positive impact regarding the blind and visually impaired in the Louisville area. The National Federation of the Blind of Greater Louisville will host our annual spaghetti supper and auction on June 8, 2019 at Crescent Hill United Methodist Church, 201, South Peterson, Louisville, KY 40206. Admission is $5.00 for adults and kids 12 and under are $3.00. Spaghetti will be served from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM and the auction will begin at 6:00 PM.
We are a chapter of the National Federation of the Blind, the world’s largest organization of blind people. Our local chapter operates under the support and direction of the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky, providing a positive impact on the lives of Kentuckians since 1947. We are bound together by our belief that the blind are capable of achieving our dreams and living the lives we want, and by the love and respect we have for one another and for all blind Americans.
Our chapter has contributed to the community by providing Christmas gifts and school supplies to local children, including children and families from the Kentucky School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Preschool Services. In addition we have contributed to local organizations such as the Family Scholar House and Kentucky Humane Society. Continued funding also allows us to support our Mittie Lake Memorial Scholarship for blind college students, Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL) Academy, and to engage in collective action to promote the independence of the blind in all aspects of life.
If you would like to support the efforts of the National Federation of the Blind, please give the item to the person who gave you this letter or send auction items to:
1014 Camden Ave
Louisville, KY 40215
The National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C)3 tax exempt organization. A receipt will be provided upon request.
